Community and Stakeholder Engagement Policy
Our Commitment
At The Carbon Bank, we care about doing things the right way. Our carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects aren’t just about tackling climate change—they’re about considering the planet and people. That’s why we aim to align with the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) principles, in this case Principle 9, which encourages carbon projects to have positive environmental and social impacts.
Our Guiding Principles
Open and Clear Communication: We aim to provide consistent, accessible, and transparent information about our projects, ensuring stakeholders understand our goals, activities, progress, and our guiding frameworks such as Isometric Standard and the Woodland Carbon Code.
Respect for Local Needs and Perspectives: We seek to understand and respond to the priorities of each community, striving to create social and economic benefits alongside environmental outcomes, as outlined in our Environmental and Social Safeguards Policy.
Collaborative Approach: We look to work closely with local landowners, regulatory bodies, and the scientific community, recognising that partnerships drive better outcomes for all involved. See our Partners Policy for more.
Implementing Our Principles
To uphold our commitment to community and stakeholder engagement, we will:
Develop Tailored Engagement Plans: For every project, we look to create engagement plans that identify key stakeholders and outline actions to keep them informed and involved.
Encourage Ongoing Dialogue: We seek to create space for open discussion, feedback, and collaboration, ensuring that communities can input into the projects that affect them.
Track, Report, and Adapt: We aim to measure how well our engagement efforts are working, share updates on progress, and refine our approach based on feedback received.
At the Carbon Bank, our focus is on more than just removing carbon—we seek to do it in a way that acknowledges people, considers nature, and promotes responsible action. We see this as a long-term effort, always evolving and adapting to improve.
